Hemp Building Directory: A Social Enterprise Success Story
What started as a side project has grown into a trusted international platform.
The Hemp Building Directory began in 2023 when two people passionate about hemp building combined skills. Kirstie brought the network, Jeremy brought the tech. After an 11-hour build sprint on a sunny Sunday afternoon, the first framework was live. Within days, 30 vendors signed up.
We suddenly had a thing: a directory.
Since then, we’ve kept building and iterating. One could say the Hemp Building Directory is a Social Enterprise Success Story

Highlight milestones include:
- Forming a lasting partnership.
- Launching a newsletter now read by 450+ dedicated subscribers that grows organically by 15-30 subs a month.
- Introducing tiered paid listings to become sustainable.
- Talking our way into the 2024 Australian Industrial Hemp Conference in the Hunter Valley.
- Being invited to document and celebrate the Hemp Connect Forum in Melbourne in 2025.
- Launching the HBD YouTube channel.
- Expanding internationally to include New Zealand.
- And most recently, a full rebrand with new logo, font and colours to match our forward-looking momentum.

Kirstie championed the network. Jeremy was welcomed as the newcomer and worked behind the scenes adding fresh content weekly, producing the monthly newsletter and keeping the website running smoothly. All this while building Environmentarian and raising his daughter full-time. Two startups in two years.
Along the way, we’ve also supported a wide range of clients. From mural artists like Studio Dennis to hemp builders like Belubula Hemp Homes, helping them strengthen their online presence so the right people find them, call them and book them.
