Sydney Design Thinking Turns 10: A Night of Insight, Innovation & Impact
Environmentarian had the privilege of capturing a very special night in the heart of Sydney’s innovation scene. Sydney Design Thinking’s 10th birthday and their 114th meetup.
Held at the vibrant Thoughtworks space, this milestone event celebrated more than a decade of community, creativity, and collaboration. With over 10,000 members now part of the SydDT network, the energy on the night was electric.

A Night of Ideas & Generosity
SydDT #114 wasn’t just a celebration…it was a showcase of boundary-pushing thinkers and generous community spirit. Speakers Steven Bai, Rianna Mo, Ian McArthur, Jessie Wen, and Jason Ho shared how transdisciplinary design thinking is shaping future-ready products across diverse cultures and geographies.
Steven also treated us to a fireside chat and shared his urban innovation work at Sencity. Rianna gave a heartfelt reflection on the design moments that have shaped her journey. The room was packed, not just with people but with ideas worth spreading.
To add a unique layer of creativity, Sarah Heimeier from Sh8peshifters visually documented the night live. A great reminder that design is as much about how we see as how we solve.
A Community Worth Celebrating
Ben Pecotich of Dynamic4 and the SydDT team have been doing this since 2013, and it shows. The event wrapped with prize giveaways from Echos Desirable Futures Lab, gifting two lucky winners a spot in their Design Thinking & AI Bootcamp.
