Environmentarian Founder Jeremy Thomas has been announced as moderator for an expert panel discussion at Futurebuild Australia 2026, one of Australia’s leading events focused on innovation, sustainability and the future of the built environment.
The session, titled “Bio Based Materials for Real World Builds: The Materials Defining Australia’s Low-Carbon Future”, will take place on Saturday 13 June 2026 from 10:15am to 11:00am on the Skyline Stage at ICC Sydney.

The discussion will explore the role bio-based building materials can play in reducing carbon emissions, improving building health outcomes and supporting the transition towards a more sustainable built environment.
Joining Jeremy on the panel will be:
- Veena Sahajwalla, Director of Sustainable Materials Research & Technology at UNSW
- Jeremy Mansfield, Founder of Mansfield Advisory
- Jennifer Synders, CEO of House of Bamboo
The panel will examine the next generation of low-carbon building materials gaining momentum across Australia and discuss the opportunities and challenges involved in moving sustainable materials from niche applications into mainstream construction.
Topics will include material performance, low-VOC building products, healthy buildings, regulation, market demand and the innovations helping drive adoption across the construction sector.
As Founder of Environmentarian, Jeremy works with purpose-driven organisations to strengthen their digital ecosystem, industry engagement and impact. He is also a strong advocate for natural building materials, particularly hemp, and has contributed to industry awareness through initiatives including the Hemp Building Directory, hemp-focused educational content and ongoing involvement with the Australian hemp building sector.
