EOFY 2025 Reflections: Values Meet Execution

When I reflect on this past financial year, I’m proud to say that Environmentarian donated 1.83% of net profit to humanitarian and social causes. That’s above the 1 percent profit commitment I now consider the bare minimum. A floor, not a ceiling.

Driving Purpose Through Practice

This isn’t just about appearances. I donate to causes that I personally believe in because I’ve seen how fragile and interconnected our global systems really are.

  • Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) remains close to my heart. In a world facing war, food insecurity, and collapsed healthcare systems, their work is essential.
  • Avaaz speaks to democratic accountability and giving a voice to the public on global issues.
  • The Leukaemia Foundation supports Australian families through some of the hardest challenges life throws their way.

Together, these donations reflect the social impact line we’ll continue to grow.

Environmental Action You Can’t Always Invoice

Beyond the books, Environmentarian also dedicated significant unpaid time and resources to environmental and community-driven education.

  • I continue to partly fund and manage The Hemp Building Directory, which makes carbon-sequestering materials more visible and accessible.
  • I launched a YouTube series focused on Hempcrete in Australia. It’s not monetised, but it exists to share knowledge and support the wider ecosystem. It’s completely self fund and I do all the work from planning, filming and editing and rolling out first to YouTube then other channels. Currently in Season 3.
  • Call it pro bono for the planet… it’s unpaid, but never without value.

ESG as DNA, Not Strategy

If I loosely map this onto Environmental, Social and Governance – ESG:

  • E is the hemp work. Materials that store carbon, improve soil, and support local industries.
  • S is the giving. Funding the kind of humanitarian response the world desperately needs.
  • G is how Environmentarian holds itself accountable. I choose to do it before I say it, and only speak once it’s real.

Looking Forward

The goal is not just more donations or more projects. It’s alignment. I want my business, my time, and my values pointed in the same direction.

While we continue our deep involvement in hemp building (a vital area, given that construction accounts for nearly 40 percent of global carbon emissions) we remain committed to supporting Médecins Sans Frontières and plan to begin contributing to Mossy Earth this year. These are the kinds of projects we believe in.

And all you need to do to support them is work with us.

By partnering with Environmentarian to shape your online narrative, you’re not only strengthening your credibility and digital presence, you’re also backing work that delivers real-world impact.

If you’re a client or collaborator reading this, know that you’re not just hiring someone to build a website or business system. You’re working with someone who cares about you, your business, and the planet. Aligned partners receive a lower rate across the board… because shared values make the work better.

If you’d like to support one of our for-purpose projects, just reach out. We’re always open to backing ideas that deserve to exist.

Let’s build better.
