How Do You Spell Environmentarian?
Let’s be honest. Environmentarian is a long word. And it’s a new one too.
We know what it’s built from — Environment + -arian, like Librarian, Vegetarian, or Parliamentarian. It makes sense. But if you’re hearing it for the first time, you’re not always sure how to spell it, say it, or even Google it.
I created the word because I needed one. A term for someone who works across sustainability, creativity, tech, and communication. Not just caring about the environment, but actively helping others do better through business, design, storytelling, and systems.
But here’s the thing: not everyone gets it straight away.

What Even Is an Environmentarian?
Put simply, an Environmentarian is someone who gives a damn. About the planet, sure — but also about people, quality work, and long-term thinking (sustainability). That’s what we try to do at Environmentarian (the business): help ethical businesses grow, build better websites, communicate with impact, and operate in ways that reflect their values.
We build and host websites, make videos, help with business development, and offer credible marketing, especially for sustainability-minded clients. We’re also deeply rooted in hemp building, a field that’s finally getting the attention it deserves in the climate conversation.
But Back to the Spelling…
So here’s the funny part. The word “Environmentarian” isn’t in every dictionary (yet). That means even smart, tech-savvy people can stumble over it.
Case in point:
A while ago I was chatting with Ben (maybe his real name), a programmer mate I hadn’t seen in a while. He’s someone I low-key wanted to impress. We were talking about business, and he was on a common email thread an noticed the name — Environmentarian.
I saw him Google it. And for a split second, there was this awkward silence.
No results. Blank page.
He’d left out the “i” — a totally common typo: Envronmentarian.
To be honest, in that moment, I felt like a bit of a fraud. I’d talked up my web dev chops, but here he was, typing in my business name and getting crickets.
I pointed out the ‘i’ was missing and nnce we corrected the spelling, it was a different story: a huge trail on Goggle – business, Instagram, website of course and much more… He went the site, environmentarian.au saw the projects, nodded with real respect.
Still, that moment stuck with me.
So Here’s a List of Typos That Lead Nowhere… But Might Lead to Us
These are all real or likely misspellings we’ve seen or predicted:
Read on if you want a laugh!
- Enviromentarian (missing the n in “environment”) when I first registered the domain this is what I did and frantically back tracked…
- Environmetarian (skipping the second n)
- Envronmentarian (Ben’s typo – missed an i)
- Enviornmentarian (that sneaky i/o switch)
- Enviornmenterion (a full keyboard freestyle – lollolol)
- Environmenterian (adding an e instead of the a)
- Environmentalrian (mashing up environmental and arian)
- Environmntarian (skipping vowels like it’s a license plate – lol again)
- Envmentarian (shortened right down to a cryptic brand)
One of the downsides of coining a new word is that spellcheck doesn’t back you up. I had to train my Mac and iPhone. Even browser autofill gives up halfway. But the upside is that once you learn it, you own it. There’s no confusion with competitors. No similar name in the space. And now, thanks to this article, hopefully better Google coverage for all the variations.
What We’re Doing About It
We’ve now set up redirects and domain traps for the most common misspellings. If you type in the wrong version, you’ll (hopefully) land in the right place. This SEO should help.
Plus, once people have seen or read the name a few times, it sticks. And once they’ve worked with us, they remember what it means: a business partner who’s actually aligned with their values.
So if you’ve ever wondered how to spell Environmentarian, or thought you’d found a typo in our logo, now you know. It’s deliberate. It’s a mouthful, but it means something.
